Shelby Christopher begins her first year as the graduate assistant in compliance for the University of West Florida athletics. She directly assists associate athletic director Meghan Barter with the department’s compliance of NCAA and Gulf South Conference standards and regulations.Christopher has expertise in compliance after working for Philadelphia University’s athletic department as the compliance and community engagement intern. There, she redesigned and implemented updated forms for various initiatives in athletic compliance, and also revised the Student-Athlete Handbook, Coaches Manual and developed the department’s Facebook usage policy.
A graduate of Temple, Christopher received a bachelor’s degree of Science in Sports and Recreation Management degree as Summa Cum Laude in May 2012. While there she played on the Owls’ lacrosse team and received accolades including the Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association Honor Roll, the President’s Honor Roll and Dean’s List.The native of Landenberg, Pa., is pursuing a master’s of education in College Student Affairs Administration (CSAA) at UWF and plans to graduate May 2014.
Shelby brings her experience as a referee and as a Division 1 player to add to the clinics and practices for Team LaxChix. She loves to show the girls stick tricks and challenges them with new and different ideas!
